COPPEL DEPARTMENT STORES 

Coppel is  a mexican company founded in 1941 in the city of Culiacán 

by Luis Coppel Rivas and his son Enrique coppel tamayo.They started 

selliny gifts. The expansion of coppel was enormous. In 1989 It had 22 

stores, sales of 100 millión dollars and 1800 employees. However until 

this year the company had maintained a policy of conservative expansion.

 It was in 1990 that the company began an ambitious expansion plan, 

achieving a 10-fold increase in just 13 years. In 2003 they had 210 stores, 

sales of more than 1 billion dollars and 19,000 employees in payroll. At 

the moment, It counts on more than 1000 stores including its 

internationalization by argentina and brazil, more than 5 million 

dollars in sales, more than 70,000 employees and appliances.
